Gaming Slump

Well folks I am declaring it, I am in a gaming slump, or maybe funk is more appropriate? Nothing is really drawing me in right now. I have tried playing a couple games in my back log, but there was no spark. Have I stopped playing video games? No, that would be absurd. I see myself toothless and grey hosting LAN parties in the retirement home. I am a bit bored or burned out though.

Right now I am just cycling through old Call of Duty and Battlefield titles. Recently, I discovered Plutonium, which is a client that allows you to play older Call of Duty titles with more security. Activision still sells older titles on PC, takes are money, but leaves them vulnerable to hackers and malicious actors. So the community has picked up the pieces and provided a safer alternative. Black Ops 1 and World at War have been my go too. Most of the times its just a handful of human players and the rest are bots, but its better than nothing. Classic Call of Duty back when the developers gave a shit. Recently, Modern Warfare Remastered went on sale so I had to grab it for the HMW mod. HMW is the successor to the previously shutdown H2M mod whos goal was to remake Modern Warfare 2's MP using MWR as the base. After Activision shut them down, some of the community used the source code to continue the work under a new name. They also made it open source so if Activision shuts them down someone else can just create a new version. HMW also just released this nightshade update which includes Modern Ware 3 maps and some weapons. So it is basically Modern Warfare 2 Remastered with Modern Warfare 1, 2, & 3 maps. It is quite brilliant.

Of course cannot forget to mention Battlefield. Hoping into matches in BF3 and BF1 are always a good time. On the weekend I just randomly fired it up and joined TBG server. It was TDM on Noshahr Canals. Sooo satisfying. For you CoD heads out there its like Shipment, but a bit more open. I was just running and gunning with my PP2000 as engineer. Didn't matter I was still getting rocked by the hardcores it was still a good time. BF3 is like Pizza, even when its bad its still good. BF1 I play with some of my buddies when they are free. That game is going on a decade and I still think its the most beautiful video game out there. Other than that though I am not playing anything really new or different. Am I burned out? In a rut? Or maybe I am realizing my free time is so limited so play what makes me happy.

I think I might take a small breather from gaming for just a bit. I need to focus some of my time on my roster building project. If you follow the blog I play a sports management sim named Eastside Hockey Manager. I have been working on a retro database for about a year now. I have made lots of progress but there is still so much to work on. I would like to get the NHL completed this summer so that will need some significant output on my end.

Anyways that is my blog post. Just a quick update on my head space in gaming right now. As always thank you for reading and stay safe out there gamers.
