Humankind has accomplished great things. The pyramids, penicillin, the moon landing. All those pale in comparison to cloud and remote gaming. Hey gamers, todays post is just a little praise to the ability in the 21st Century to play your favourite games virtually anywhere.

First lets talk about Xbox's Cloud gaming technology. This feature comes with Xbox Gamepass's highest tier Ultimate. Although, it comes with a steep price tag and controversy about game ownership it turns any device into an Xbox. I love the fact that I can be playing a game at my desk and go "ok time for bed" and continue playing on my phone for another hour. The caveat here is you need to have quality high speed internet. I live in a City where I have that blessing so I know this option is not viable for all. If you do have good internet it runs fairly smooth. There are buffering moments which can be devastating in the middle of a game, but overall its smooth sailing. Not sure I would recommend it for multiplayer PVP type games, but for single player its great.

I grew up playing NHL games on the PC for years. EA discontinued PC versions of the game after 2008's NHL 09. Playing NHL 25 for the Xbox Series X/S on my PC via cloud is the closest I think PC players will ever get to NHL. This is one of my big selling points for the Gamepass personally. NHL on the PC. I have been playing Be A Pro and cycling between my PC and handheld via my android device. The android device I use is an older budget unlocked Samsung from Amazon with a 8bitdo Xbox like cellphone controller I also purchased from Amazon. So if you got an old phone lying around you can turn it into an Xbox with cloud gaming. Then take that Xbox anywhere that has Wi-Fi. The Library, the train, the coffee shop, now you can play these Xbox games anywhere.

Now let us not forget about those great folks at Valve and the Steam Link App. Steam Link lets you stream your Steam Library from your main computer to another device. I have super basic laptop and with Steam Link I can leave my desktop, go sit on the couch in the living room and still keep gaming. I have a mini PC setup on my main television for entertainment and a big feature is my Steam Link App. Again I can lie on the couch and play Red Dead Redemption 2 from my main PC, via my mini-PC, through Steam Link. The common theme here is I love laying down and being lazy. So my favourite hobby of gaming combined with my love of laying down and not moving. It is just kismet. The technology keeps getting better and better and cannot wait to see how they improve on the current state.

What streaming software do you use? Are you using Steam Link too or are you using NVIDIA GeForce Now? Let me know on Social Media. That is it for now. Thank you so much for stopping in and stay safe out there gamers.
